Ward Churchill, Bill Ayers: Wacky Recipients of America’s Generosity

by Buck on March 9, 2009

America is really a great country in case you didn’t know it. Last week in Boulder Colorado there was an example of diversity in action in this great country. Weather Underground Founder William Charles Ayers came to town to speak in support of Ward Churchill, a dismissed Colorado University Professor. Churchill is arguably one of the meanest, wackiest characters that has ever gotten tenure in a major university. Ayers, in 2001 reportedly, stated that he didn’t regret the bombings of his group of Weathermen. He was in Boulder speaking about an immanent trial concerning the Churchill firing.

Ayers termed the firing a witch hunt that was really an attempt to deny Churchill his First Amendment rights to call the 3000 victims of 911 “Little Eichmans” .. The two year University investigation of Churchill pretty much had established his right to be verbally obnoxious as a First Amendment right. It also found numerous examples of plagiarism in his published works. As an professor of Ethnic Studies it was reported that he had gained his position helped by the claim that he was a Native American. His Native American origin claim was only in his head. He is not a Native American although a native of America. Apparently his application to the university had a semantic transformation of the Native American determination standard.

After many hearings and two years of Colorado University embarrassment they finally fired Churchill. He is now suing the school for reinstatement claiming cover for his case from the First Amendment.

Not only has he sued but the courts actually are hearing the case. Think about what a great country this is… We have a wacky professor who has expressed his hate for America for years in his classes being supported by Bill Ayers a professor from Chicago, who founded a bombing terrorist group. Ayers has expressed hatred for America through the years. Ayers in addition has made no apology for his youthful behavior and evidently is now confident of his position as a spokesman for Change in America. I must admit that next to Churchill, Ayers seems calm and collected. Churchill however was not, to my knowledge, active in any group of violent terrorist bombers.

These two had ample news coverage in their Boulder appearance and some student support. There has been no outrage from the citizens to whom these two have performed outrageously through the years. The legal system to which they have expressed disdain is giving Churchill his day in court and has allowed Ayers to spout foolish statements concerning the thoughtful proceedings which resulted in Churchill’s firing.

I wonder if the world these two haters of America hope to create would be as generous to opposition, as is our American system of justice?

I doubt it.
