The Tenth Amendment
The 10th Amendment to the Constitution states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
This amendment was often used until the Roosevelt administration to restrain the Federal Government from usurping the primacy of the States in the relationship that forms our Republic.
The recent unrestrained actions of the Federal government are producing a serious push back by many states to restate the Sovereignty issues that are outlined in the 10th Amendment. This is not necessarily a secessionist movement in every case as it has been characterized in some coverage. The Oklahoma Legislature voted overwhelmingly to enact a resolution stating their rights of Sovereignty over the Federal Government as outlined in the 10th Amendment. In 31 states action is being considered as to how to reestablish the States Sovereignty as the prime element in the formation of our Republic.
The various regions have local issues that have been overridden by Federal action designed to bring all areas into central government compliance. These are the actions of a Statist movement that has been creeping into our lives for decades
There are now prominent individuals around the Nation speaking about outright secession from an out of control Federal Government. The Federal incursion into local issues such as education, health care and other issues has stimulated recent growth in the numbers of groups discussing the formation of regional governments that have shared interests.
There are proposed alliances being actively discussed in New England and the Maritime provinces of Canada as well as a Southern States amalgamation. Nobody seems to be advocating any form of violent separation but rather a reorganization based on the protections of the 10th Amendment that have been ignored by a series of Federal Administrations.
The current administration seems to be oblivious to the growing discontent spreading across the country concerning issues of spending and nationalization of commercial sectors by the government. Nancy, Harry and Barack are the Troika that are determined to remake America in the format that they have determined is best for us. The intemperate level of spending is fodder for these various proponents of dividing America into several countries of shared interests. A group in Texas has outlined the position of stature that Texas would have as a separate nation. According to proponents of the Republic of Texas, the population and economy of Texas as a nation would exceed that of Australia as well as 90% of all other nations. Prominent Texans are actively suggesting that serious consideration should be given to the question of separation.
I read about these proposals and get a nervous tic thinking that these ideas might be getting some serious traction. The nervous condition increases when I think about Scary Nancy being Speaker of the House and her being third in line for the Presidency. I get even more nervous when I note the billboards appearing that say: “Where is the Birth Certificate” and that the reaction of the Obama team is to disregard the Birthers as some kind of crazy’s. They may or may not be crazy but to disregard their issue is really crazy.
The admission by the Obama financial geniuses that they underestimated the long term prospects for the debt they have created does not help the nervous hives. It seems that the 6 trillion dollars of long term debt is now 9 trillion dollars.
The States which supposedly are the base of our Republic are now being financially crippled by the Federal government control of finance with a total disregard for the 10th Amendment. If any one is crazy it is a population that lets our country be dismembered by a Federal Government that ignores the Constitution upon which the Republic was built.
I have a feeling that 2010 might be a last chance to start a rescue mission for America. Nancy must go. If the Birthers should turn out not to be a bunch of nut cases Nancy might move to a second position in the line of succession.
I never though Obama would look as good as he does when I think about that scenario.
