Stimulus Initiative: A Symptom of Insanity?
It has been said with attribution to Albert Einstein that “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
I’m not sure if this is a proper clinical definition but it is something to think about when viewing the Obama Administration answers to the rising unemployment under their leadership. The news is worse everyday, despite the administration attempts to spin us into thinking that things are looking better.
Henry Morgenthou was the U.S. Secretary of The Treasury during the Roosevelt administration in the 30’s. Morgenthou was Roosevelt’s friend and trusted adviser. He said about the New Deal approach to unemployment: “ We are spending more than we ever have and it does not work” He further said: “ After 8 years we have as much unemployment and enormous debt to boot”.
It has been announced that Obama does not intend to have a new Stimulus package but rather intends to expand the current plan. This may not yet be total proof of an insane initiative but remember the old saying about “if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck“….etc.
It has been noted that in their failed sales pitch concerning the Chicago bid for the Olympics that the Obama sales team used “ I ” about 80 times in their presentations describing why the committee should choose the U.S. and Chicago as the Olympic site. I think that this might be a telling indicator as to our current problem.
Obama has deluded himself into believing that since he has the job he obviously must know what he is doing. We all know that the title doesn’t determine capability. Every smart, newly commissioned 2nd Lt. knew that he’d better listen to a veteran Sergeant with experience to determine where to attack a problem before doing something really stupid.
The President hasn’t had much big time experience. This is a fact we all know. He is now demonstrating an ego that will continue to create problems for his administration and the nation. The election is over and it is time to solve problems. Solving problems happens if the experience of others is used to supplement personal shortfalls in the problem area.. In life, when a problem arises the first correction must result from examining personal deficiencies that contributed to the problem.
Obama needs to examine and correct his lack of understanding as to why free markets and individual responsibility are keys to a successful society. It seems that the President doesn’t want to hear opinions that are contrary to his experiences in neighborhood organizing.
As a nation we seem to be in deep, deep trouble with this current leadership, but I’m sure most folks don’t need me to point that out. When, in trouble, moaning doesn’t help. A solution is needed. The start of the answer must happen in 2010 with Nancy being sent to the back of the House. We can then work on the 2012 solution.
