Pelosi needs A Lesson at Vail
Obama needs to now act as smart as I once thought he was and get control of Pelosi. Nancy Pelosi with her single hand could end the Democratic control of the legislative Branch of government. She doesn’t have to lose control by her own efforts. Harry Reed is a willing confederate. They each have a few rabid supporters from Connecticut, Michigan and New York to help in the rush to duplicate the first two years of the Clinton administration . Newt Gingrich sprang to the spotlight in those Clinton years and we can be sure that there is a Gingrich clone about to appear on the Republican side of the aisle.
Nancy is almost beyond belief. In the midst of a recession she is demanding that her transport be no less than a G-5. Her office calls to the Dept of Defense reserving a jet for staff, family and her use are more than arrogant. They are a disgraceful display of her total disregard for the national plight and the stress that her policies are placing in the laps of ordinary Americans.
While the nation is struggling to understand the unprecedented expenditure of our money by this administration to change the core values of America, Nancy insists that the most luxurious jet available be reserved for her exclusive use. While she supports restrictions on private use of biz jet by business she uses the same type of jet for specious personal and political reasons.
While flying high she is shepherding a domestic bill through the house that should be put aside until her administration solves job one–getting the economy back on track. Her domestic bill contains more than 9000 earmarks of political pork totaling billions of additional expenditures.
There has never been any doubt in my mind that the answers and leadership to recovery would come from the private sector. One such example was announced today here in Colorado. Rob Katz is Chairman of the Board and CEO of Vail Resorts. Katz has cut the salaries of the employees of Vail by an average of 10%. The Executives salaries will be cut by 20% and Katz will take no salary for the next year. That is 0- zero- nada-none.
Where is that kind of leadership in government. Katz is laying off no one at Vail. The moral is soaring in this giant ski resort organization. No one likes to take a cut but they have a boss who understands leadership and demonstrates his appreciation of the value brought to Vail by the people who work there..
Tomorrow President Obama , Pelosi and Reed should fly out to Colorado and meet with Katz for a lesson in leadership. I have gotten to know Rob a bit and am sure he will take a break from his busy schedule and make some time for them.
Way to go Rob.
