Obama to Denmark

When I heard that the President and Michelle were going to Denmark on a sales call representing Chicago’s bid for the Olympics I decided to take a week off. I figure if the President can take some time from worrying about Health Care, Cap and Trade, Iran’s nuclear ambitions and the growing unemployment figures why should I be so passionately concerned about the future of our country.

Chicago getting the Olympics might be a bigger deal than I understand. I guess that getting the Olympics somehow fits into the Presidents unemployment reduction plans. I wonder how he can continue to blame Bush and the Republicans until 2016 for the problems if the jobs generated by the Olympics are part of his plan.

We’ll just have to watch closely for the next few years since this may be part of a plan to extend his reign beyond the current 2 term limitations. I can hardly keep track of the various initiatives, but this may be on his agenda.

I listened to Howard Dean on Air America this morning and he was very reassuring that things were under control. He was confident that the Health Care Plan with the Public Option would be passed despite the road blocks being put forth by the majority of Americans who oppose the idea of the government taking over this major element of their lives. He was dismissive of any concerns about the President selling Chicago at a critical time in the legislative session. He was sure that the country was in good hands with Nancy Pelosi at the helm concerning Health Care and Cap and Trade issues.

It certainly is reassuring to think that Nancy is driving the ship through stormy legislative waters. I am not exactly sure where she has stored the life preservers. I don’t want anyone to think that her leadership is in question. Intelligent leadership by Nancy has never been in question. Leadership ability is a question that her performance has clearly demonstrated has not yet risen to a level for consideration. No sense analyzing an element that has not yet been discovered.

I’m grateful that the President has given me an opportunity to take a break. I have found Denmark to be really a pleasant country with some very nice people. Maybe Barack and Michelle should extend for a few weeks. Nancy, Harry and Howard Dean as support can take care of things for a while and figure out which is the next major element of American society that this administration can manage better than our current system.
