November Election Campaign Has Begun
The President and his cohorts have begun the active campaign to hold on to their majority in Congress. Preident Obama made a major push on proposed legislation for the extension of unemployment benefits.
His speech on the subject was designed to project the Republicans as heartless opponents to his efforts to ease the anguish of those who have been unemployed for a long period.
He criticized Republicans as the opponents that have demonstrated their heartless nature by, on three occasions rejecting his proposal to extend unemployment benefits.
Obama did not discuss his administrations responsibility for unemployment figures remaining at a high level for 19 months of his administration. There was no mention of his failed stimulus actions as part of the reason for continued joblessness.
The most duplicitous aspect of his speech was his failure to indicate the Republican willingness to approve the extension with one sensible requirement added to the proposal. They have insisted that the extension be paid for by elimination of programs that are of sufficient size that further deficit expansion does no take place.
The Obama created deficit has now reached three and a half TRILLION dollars.
The Bush excesses left us with a deficit of 500 billion dollars after the 8 years of his administration. In 19 months Obama has expanded the deficit to the 3.5 trillion level. We do not need that deficit to rise by extending unemployment benefits without a plan to pay for them.
Obama really does not care about the unemployed other than as a chance to expand the numbers of those who are financially controlled by the Federal Government. There is no interest in sitting down with Republican leadership to work out a plan that does not expand the deficit. The issue is one that he will continue to use as he rolls into a full fledged campaign mode that does not have honesty as a requirement in his pronouncements.
Last week the campaign issue was contributed to Obama by the NAACP with their outrageous categorization of the Tea Party as a racist organization. There was no mention of a fiscally sensible government being the goal of the Tea Party This week the Republicans are heartless deniers of help for the unemployed. No mention was made of the Republican statement of willingness to support the legislation if fiscal sense was included in the proposal.
Obama is not speaking about what America needs. What Obama “wants” is the sum total of his interest. A week will not pass before we see the next pronouncement of his greatness coupled with a half truth denouncement of his opponents actions.
