Mr. Obama-Who acted Stupidly?
I have a different view as to who has handled thing stupidly in recent days. The President opened the door as to how his mind works when the teleprompter isn’t guiding his comments. He said that he didn’t have all the facts but the police in Cambridge handled things stupidly in the incident concerning a black Harvard Professor. He then threw down the race card as the probable reason for his friend Henry Gates, a black professor, being arrested.
The Obama thought process on race issues was clearly delineated . If a white cop arrests a black individual he feels that the first thing to investigate is the racial bias of the cop. There was no question in Obama’s mind that Gates may have behaved badly causing the police officer to arrest him., It simply must have been because Gates was black.
The disgraceful behavior here was on the part of the President. What makes him think that he should weigh in on a local incident in Massachusetts and at the same time cast aspersions on all white officers with his reference to racial profiling of blacks and the bias of white officers.. The one clear example of racial bias was the statements made by Obama..
With each passing day the mistake of the last election becomes more clear. We have a President with little significant management experience coupled with an enormous ego driving our country bus. He doesn’t even have a road map of the American countryside but is rolling down a governing direction laid out to drive us off a giant cliff.
When any sensible person takes a bit of time to examine the details off the Obama Health Plan the question that will be asked : Why is he really seriously pushing this legislative package? It is more than bad, it is an abomination. The Obama plan for payment of every one of his extravagant proposals is to punish the successful and reward the likely supporters of his Administration in future elections with more and more entitlements. He is clearly on a path to redistribute the wealth to enhance his support base.
The annoying question as to whether he is a native born American keeps rising among a small group of his opponents. These folks are now called Birthers and make an interesting case, but will never get a hearing. I am really not looking forward to them proving that he was born on some other planet or whatever they are claiming. The energy spent on this issue should be redirected towards the election of 2010 and getting some sense elected into Congress. Party is not an issue at his time. Individuals who are aware of this Nations great foundation and how we became the most prosperous , generous nation in history are needed in Congress . We must get back on an American track and cut off the Obama Socialist redistribution of wealth plans for our future. Forget the birth issue and concentrate on the rebirth of the American dream for all Americans

Wading in on a local incident that shouldn’t absorb one millesecond of the president’s time was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was to admit facts are still incomplete but draw a critical conclusion anyway shows an impetuous side of his nature. I hope he doesn’t have similar knee jerk reactions when it comes to something important.
President Obama is much smarter than this and I hope when he called it “a teaching moment, that he, above everyone else, was the student.
Why is it up to Prof. Gates to “keep this whole thing from ever happening”? He’s a citizen in his own home. Why aren’t you asking what Sgt. Crowley could have done “to keep this whole thing from ever happening”? Crowly is a CIVIL SERVANT. He is trained and paid to de-escalate tense situations. He dind’t do his job. And he compounded his mistake by arresting a guy on a totally bogus charge, which was instantaneously dismissed.
Gates may be a Grade A butthole that you’d never invite for dinner, but that’s not against the law.

The greatest benefit to climbing the ladder one rung at a time is learning the lessons along the way. I served as a chief executive officer for an organization and learned at each step along the way that sometimes the best course of action is to not respond at all. If you are going to respond, it is critical to get all the facts, making your first response a request for information and not a rush to judgement. Those who rush to judgement demonstrate their wreckless behavior and their desire to push an agenda rather than govern an organization.
On the issue of Professor Gates, it occurs to me that he could have done two things to keep this whole thing from ever happening. First and foremost would be getting to know his neighbors. Had his neighbor recognized that it was the owner of the house, I doubt she would have called the police. The second thing he could have done was to quickly provide some proof that he lived there. The police tapes reveal that the officer who eventually arrested Gates called to slow down back up claiming that the person appeared to be the lawful resident, but that he was refusing to cooperate. Even if he shoved a driver’s licence in their faces showing he was the lawful resident and yelled at them to leave while calling them names, I doubt he would have been arrested.
