John Kerry: “McChrystal’s Plan-Too far Too Fast”

by Buck on November 13, 2009

Senator John Kerry has opposed General Stanley McChrystal’s proposed Afghanistan strategy as going “too far too fast.” I wonder what General George Patton would have to say about Kerry’s comment. I am sure that expletives would be involved.

It looks like Kerry doesn’t have to worry about McChrystal going “too far too fast with Obama making the decision. Too fast is no part of Obama’s thought process. It has been reported that he has rejected all plans submitted to him for consideration as to how to pursue the next phase of the war in Afghanistan.

The President has taken off for the Far East on a tour of Japan, Singapore and, China. I suppose he is concerned that he hasn’t apologized to those countries for various American transgressions on their sensibilities as he did in Europe some months ago,

I would not be surprised if an agreement to move the Marines off of Okinawa would be a concession to the Japanese. I’m not sure what Singapore needs but no doubt he will have something in his Seabag ( or Deployer) to help make the Chinese love us.

It is with nervous amazement that I watch our military sit and wait while a bunch of “know little “ politicians filter the warriors needs and recommendations through a political strategy vetting process. The death count of our troops rises every month of the Obama regime. While the count rises Obama finds new reasons to avoid giving a the clear definition of our reasons for being in Afghanistan and then developing a strategy that will meet those goals. ( winning is a word that escapes his understanding).

Exit strategy not clearly defined, is the new reason for holding back on a decision. Obama needs an exit strategy before making a decision. He can move the decision along by going to the movies. He will note when the story ends it says The End. The lights come on and everyone goes home.

The difference here is that in a movie there is a story told that has an ending. Obama cannot figure out an ending to the war that he insisted must be pursued while he was campaigning for election.
It was a political statement that he used, like many others, simply for the purpose of getting elected. He was elected and it is now evident that he didn’t give any thought to the Afghanistan story line other than making politically expedient statements.

He really doesn’t have a clue. He is going to make troop and equipment decisions that reject the advice of his Commanding General in Afghanistan. Woe is “us”. I’ll bet he doesn’t even know what a Seabag or Deployer is used for by the Navy and Marines. Even Kerry knows what a Sea bag is, maybe not much more, but it is something.

I might be selling our President short on this issue. Maybe he can get the Chinese to love us by giving them a contract to make 40,000 U.S.M.C. Deployers (Seabags) just in case we need them. He can then postpone troop decisions until the contract is completed.
