Is Extortion Taking Place in The Senate?
The practice in the House and Senate of buying votes with promises of funding special projects is not new but with the Obama Administration new levels of “vote buying” has been reached.
The Health Bill is of such importance that the buying of votes is receiving attention that has not previously been noted on other less critical legislation. Harry Reid reached his needed number of votes to move the Health Bill to debate in the Senate by buying several critical votes. He accomplished his needed 60 votes with promises of additional money to several states whose senators were holding back their agreement on allowing debate to begin. 100 million dollars was the reported cost of one vote and 800 million dollars was the cost of another. These monies were for programs in the states represented by the senators that needed additional motivation to support the Health Bill moving ahead.
This type of buying approval is called extortion in some situations, but apparently those rules like many others do not apply to our House and Senate members The politician that pledges a vote to the Heath Bill based on additional funding that will aid in future assurances of reelection is guilty of more than simple extortion. The future of our Nation is being debated. Full attention to the issues is needed without the purchase of votes by additional millions of dollars being sent to a state fund that has reelection as the prime consideration of the politicians whose vote is being bought.
The disgusting display of individual ambition riding roughshod over the public interests is at a level from which we may never recover. The Health Bill followed By Cap and Trade will then surely lead to an amnesty bill concerning illegal immigrants. This lineup of Obama, Pelosi, Reid and Emanuel plans for America are clearly laid out and are the reason for the rush that overrides careful consideration of every bill that this administration proposes.
Their purpose is to assure the dominance of the Obama philosophy in reshaping America to a new Socialist structure. The bills are planned for the buying of public votes in the same fashion as the Senate votes were bought to move the Health Bill along. Cost considerations do not play a part in the Obama plans. The cost of power and control means little to emerging oligarchy of national control that is envisioned by this small group of administration leaders.
When the Health Bill and Cap and Trade are passed the American economy will be changed forever. No small business will employ full time workers since the benefits envisioned by the Statist advocates will be economically unsustainable. A business that is having success and growing will hesitate to expand beyond 50 employees which is the key number expressed in the Health Bill for the unsustainable tax provisions to take effect.
The Senators and Representatives that are selling their votes are selling America. No doubt, no question. There is only a small chance to avoid the ending of American life as we have known it and that is in the scruples that remain buried somewhere in the conscience of a few Senators who are unwilling to sell our country to the Statist future that is being structured by Obama and his sycophants.

I have always said that we have the best politicians money can buy and now I am certain of it. Like the escort that NY Governor Eliott Spitzer was caught with, our politicians are easy, but not cheap.
The part that troubles me most is the lack of understanding among the American population. They hear statistics like, “40 million Americans without health insurance” and vote for someone who promises to help. The American who votes for the Democrats just want that all those poor people to be helped. They have no clue that they have just destroyed the last functioning health care system on the planet. No country who has converted to socialized (Nationalized) health care in encouraging us to follow their lead. In fact they are yelling for us to stop. Even the Chinese are warning us that it will cripple our economy! Keep in mind that the Chinese own a lot of our debt and they want to protect their investment.
Polls and surveys of the American public show an overwhelming aversion to nationalized health care, but the Democrats in power don’t care. Their goal is nothing short of the Government control of our lives and the economy.
The hold-outs who demanded huge sums of money for their states know that it is the only way they can justify their votes to the constituents. It’s as if they are saying, “don’t be mad at me for killing your prized cow, I saved you a steak”.
I belive every American needs to send a message to every Senator saying what they think. I am also curious to know what it would take to bring impeachment proceedings agaisnt those who sold out America. Perhaps the courts could issue an injuction based on the constituionality of the process.
We cannot let this happen. Once this damage is done, it cannot be undone. You cannot bring business back from the dead to take back from the Government what should never have been taken by the Government in the first place.
