Hummer(and what else) Goes to China
The first move by the now nationalized GM was to make a deal with a Chinese company Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Co. to sell them Hummer. There is also a side deal working with China to allow Chinese built cars to be sold in the US. It is reported that the first part of that deal will allow 50,000 cars to be sold here.
Saturn is next in line to be sold. Watch closely to see where Saturn ends up. Chrysler to Fiat and Hummer to China and deal maker Steve Ratner the Obama car czar is just getting warmed up. The Hummer deal is touted as one that will save 3000 American Auto jobs.
It will save them until the Chinese company learns how to build the Hummer. Who really believes that the Chinese will continue to build Hummers with American union auto workers when they have learned the manufacturing process? Hummer will head to China where they will be then be built quicker and less expensively.
When Lenovo bought the PC operations of IBM they moved major elements of the operation quickly to Shanghai. American contributions are still part of the operation based in Raleigh NC but have no doubt that it is now a Chinese based operation.
The Hummer path will follow the Lenovo trail to China.
There is little doubt that Obama is moving America in a direction to have government control of major elements of our commerce. He is supported at the core by a radical group of zealots who will brook no criticism of any action. Surrounding the zealots is a large group of supporters who look upon him with a rock star adoration. It is really beyond understanding that so many Americans are not alarmed that in several months our government is changing radically with actions closely mimicking the path of Germany in the 30’s.
The Obama proposal to create his civilian army in similar size as the military will be a major step in the nationalization process. This is so similar to the Hitler Brown shirts that I can’t believe that there are not cries of outrage in Congress at even a mention of such an Obama army being created. I no longer have any doubt that we are in more serious trouble as a nation than that of the automobile and financial sectors. Our core belief in individual effort as the heart of individual success is quickly being eroded with the Obama promises of government relief for every problem that individuals face.
We are being led down a path that clearly is using a socialist/fascist construction model that was fashioned outside of our normal processes. 2010 is the most important election we have ever faced in a mid- term. We need to put a congress in place with a sense of history and a belief in the America that has been taken away from us over the last 20 years. The last stage of this erosion of the American dream is being rapidly enacted with the nationalization of our auto, banking and health, business sectors.
We all know that government operations have created the sarcastic comment we hear from time to time, “that’s good enough for government work”. Government work does not and cannot equal the operations of the private sector. The Obama involvement in troubled business operations will only make things worse for America. Printing money is not the answer. Political cronies will not save the auto industry. Political cronies will only save the same financial sector elements that caused the problem.
The Obama transgressions multiply by the day while Congress stands by with wordless approval. 2010 can be an answer if there is first a period of serious questioning by the public of Obama and Congress about the plan they are unveiling for a new America,
