Copenhagen. A New Headache
My time in Copenhagen was simply a pass through visit and my memories are not very vivid. I have a feeling that I will know more about Copenhagen in the next few weeks than I have thought about in my entire life.
I’ve been reading as much about the Copenhagen Conference on climate change as I can find. I’m constantly looking for information on climate change issues hoping to find balanced thought on the subject. There does not seem to be a balanced approach being taken in Copenhagen nor do I see any provision for contrarian views to be presented.
A major purpose of the conference, centers around a plan for the redistribution of wealth hidden in the guise of Co2 emission reductions. The emission reduction requirement proposals are directed primarily at the life style and wealth of our Nation. It is being proposed that the wealthy nations give poorer nations billions of dollars for a not yet completely clear plan to reduce carbon footprints found in the activities of living in America.
There is a plan to expand the concept of selling carbon credits from nations that have them from previous international agreements. (Kyoto Protocol). Russia is a big supporter of penalizing us and others for producing a carbon footprint that is ostensively dangerous to the climate of the world. Russia is a signature to the Kyoto Protocol which gives them a massive amount of carbon credits. If in Copenhagen a firm agreement is made, Russia figures that they will be able to sell their credits for billions to countries that are producing an unacceptable carbon footprint. (us-U.S.)
The poor nations are pushing for the guilty parties (us-U.S.)who they claim are threatening the rest of the world by carbon emissions, to give them billions of dollars to help solve their problems with carbon. This proposal is without an understanding, at least to me, how this would work
There is a clear indication that this conference is about lowering the standard of living of those nations that enjoy having cars, jet travel, warm homes and many of the things that we take for granted as part of the American way of life. I think that this gathering of thousands to influence climate change is really a waste of time and an unacceptable producer of carbon emissions.. The political nature of the whole show joined with the sincere do-good determination of some folks is a combination that is designed to change the economic climate as the first order of business.
I have noticed that the Global Warming cry is being replaced by a wailing over Climate Change caused by our activities of driving, flying, manufacturing and breathing.
I think the change of terminology is due to the growing realization that there really has not been global warming in the last 10 years. I have read that studies indicate that the world temperature has not risen at all in the last decade
This Copenhagen Conference is an unelected group that does not collectively represent any government. If the U.S. representatives at this conference agree to the proposals of carbon credits being paid by us to other nations, it will be an outrageous compromise of our independence..
I’m not a scientist but am a keen observer of political activity designed for self advancement by fanatical ideologies. The recent false adjustment of scientific data by Climate Change scientists is a clear indication of what is really a big part of this whole movement. The science is not presented if it doesn’t support the political objectives of the Climate Change promoters.
UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon has said that the doctoring of climate change data “means nothing and that there will be a treaty with robust accord coming out of Copenhagen”
He further states that “climate change is happening much faster than previously thought and scientific evidence proves it is primarily being changed by man”. The World Climate changes with or without humans as residents. I have not seen the science that proves that we are the primary reason for current change,
Secretary Ban’s statement follows the revelation that the data has been doctored in at least one instance. How much more has been made up by the carbon control promoters?
As a Nation we have faults and trying times periodically. I have traveled quite a bit and have come to a hard and fast conclusion that no country I have observed has offered their folks the opportunities and lifestyle we enjoy. I really am not willingly about to cede any of my Constitutional rights to a UN gathering of nations. Most of those in Copenhagen, have no clue how to advance their nation’s opportunities even with the massive foreign aid we have given through the years. They, as an alternative, seem determined for us to lower our standard of living to a level closer to that of others less fortunate.
2010 can’t get here fast enough for my rising angst over this liberal control over my future, Nancy and Harry need to be sent to the back of the room as the first step in regaining some sense in our government.
