Clowns and Jokers

When I review the political activity in the Nations Capital I feel like if I could write a song to describe the players. The first line could be “Clowns to the left of me and Jokers to the right”. Since that line has already been used the song idea probably won’t happen.
The line does describe my feelings after looking to my Left and listening to our administration leaders put forth their plans for my future. The proposals presented are almost clownish but not at all laugh provoking..

Looking to the Right for balance and alternate suggestions is somewhat of a Joke and not at all any serious opposition to the Pelosi and Reid leadership. The loyal opposition as a force in government seems to have disappeared. I am sure the answer to our dilemma must come from the population and the important independent sector of the electorate.

The Tea Parties that are taking place across the country this Wednesday, April 15th might be an organizing start for the group of Americans that place country before politics This amazing phenomenon is going to be a nationwide event with a clear message to the politicians that obscene spending must stop and additional taxes to support that spending must not be created.

The Progressive Radio Station and Air America programs that I listen to are more than dismissive of the Tea Parties. They have mocked the whole idea of the Tea Parties and are denigrating the possible participants as tools of the “Evil Capitalists” whom they blame for all problems. The Progressive commentators see any opposition as Haters of Obama and his administration.

The Conservative talk shows have seemed to miss the whole point of the parties and display little knowledge as to why they are called Tea Parties. Sam Adams and his fellow Tea Party Originators were protesting taxes being levied by a government with little concern for the effect on the citizenry. The tea thrown into Boston Harbor was tossed there to make an important point that taxation without representation could not be tolerated. The ruling government of Sam Adam’s day did not take the action seriously and the Revolution followed. I hope that the current group of Clowns and Jokers listen seriously on Wednesday and understand that this is not some hate group. It will be made up in large part of seriously concerned citizens who want the governing officials to recognized that it is the people who provide the funds that is currently being handled with little fiscal prudence.

“Hate Group” is a term currently being seriously misused to somehow try to create political advantage by marginalizing opposition thought. To disagree with Obama is immediately categorized as coming from an “Obama Hater” Hate is a thought that needs to be reserved the Hitlers, Pol Pots and The Khmer Rouge and their ilk. It is a term that should be eliminated from our political contests. Hate should not be present on Wednesday. The force of loyal opposition needs once again to become an important part of our political process. Perhaps the tea Parties can be the start of a renewed recognition that this is a government of the People and a renewal of the Sam Adams spirit that helped create our nation.

Very good article,Buck but I still hate everything he represents.

Hate is a tough word. Some descriptive alternatives: Despise–Nauseated by–Oppose– Vote out of office is the most useful one to work with….
