Brown vs Coakley

The Massachusetts race for the vacant Senate seat is a harbinger of an awakening that is sweeping the country. American is quickly recognizing the mistake of turning the government over to a determined group of radical leftist Statists. For the Obamanistas Martha Coakley would clearly be a comfortable philosophical replacement for Ted Kennedy.

She has promised to vote for the Health Care Bill in whatever form it finally takes. She favors elimination of the historic definition of marriage. She opposes increasing troop levels in Afghanistan. She favors Cap & Trade and almost every one of the Harry Reid moves to expand government control of each aspect of life in America.

The worry of the Obama administration is that if Brown wins , their drive for Socialized medicine will be derailed. There is no concern evidenced by Reid or Pelosi that a growing majority of Americans do not want their Health Bill. Once again the Statist administration has determined that they know best and are ignoring the will of the people. With little concern for public opinion they are pushing ahead with their plans for government takeover of another major aspect of the Nation’s economy.

The drive for an Oligarchy by Obama, Reid, Pelosi and Schumer has not taken into account the innate conservative nature of the American public. Obama has campaigned for the Democrat candidates for Governor in New Jersey and Virginia. The both were defeated by the Republican candidates. The President and a host of Democrat luminaries have sprung to the aid of Coakley and her candidacy. She is in danger of losing despite their help.

In the bigger picture whether Martha wins or losses, a clear pattern is emerging which rejects the Obama path of governance. It is unbelievable to the liberal political pundits that the seat held by Kennedy for 46 years would be in peril of becoming held by a Republican. They have failed to understand that this is the beginning of the end of their short reign. As America awakens to the gross mistake we have made in recent elections the change will be like the flood tide sweeping across the country.

The successors need to demonstrate greater character and political integrity than we have experienced in recent years. The expansion of government has not only been the path of the Democrats. The last decade has seen a continuing expansion of government. There really has been no creditable Conservative voice in DC for years. The last reduction of government that was meaningful was the Clinton reform of Welfare programs. That is hard to say and give credit without gagging a bit, but it is true. We cannot make the mistake of replacing the Obamanistas with another example of the pseudo conservative economic policy we have experienced in recent years.

We need to line up creditable replacements for leadership positions in Congress starting in 2010.

As a first step check out Senator John Thune of South Dakota. He looks like someone we can trust, but we need to be careful of our support as recent evidence indicates.

Buck,

Excellent points! I am amused by the fact that we have the special election because the Massachussetts legislature changed the rules when Romney was Governor. Prior to the rule change, the Governor appointed US Senate replacements. They did not want a Republican Governor to appoint a Republican so now one might be elected.

Let’s not forget the comments of my own Representative Chris Van Hollen who compared electing Brown to the Senate to giving your car keys to someone who just drove your car into a ditch. In light of the Chappaquiddick incident, the analogy was fairly ill conceived, but don’t worry. Van Hollen is a liberal and won’t be held to any scrutiny on his unfortunate statement.
